I’m Harry — a strength, nutrition, and behaviour-change coach for men and women who’ve taken their career, marriage, and mortgage seriously, yet quietly let their body slide in the process.
My simple, evidence-first approach to training and nutrition has helped thousands of people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond get — and stay — in the best shape of their lives.
Are you ready to be next?
I started out training like most young guys.
Messily. Fumbling around a weights room as a teenager, trying to plaster over a lack of confidence with cable curls and pushdowns in my school gym.
In part because I knew no better. In part because I didn’t have the confidence to try anything else.
But I was there. And to start, that was all that mattered.
Slowly, the weight went on. The nutrition improved. I got a bit more social. I was hooked — not just on training, but on what training was steadily doing to the rest of my life.
By the time I hit eighteen, with the invincibility that comes with being eighteen and the good fortune to ignore most of the crappy programming floating around back then, a few chest presses, squats, and pull-ups later… I actually started to get somewhere.
What changed the trajectory was the good fortune of not getting hooked on social media — which, looking back, was the single luckiest thing that ever happened to my physique. No try-this-try-that traps. No influencer hell. I turned to books instead.
In 2012, I found Bigger Leaner Stronger by Michael Matthews. Then A Guide to Flexible Dieting by Lyle McDonald. Eric Helms’ Muscle & Strength Pyramid lectures. Alan Aragon’s Research Review — the monthly digest for people who wanted the actual science, not the fad of the week.
What started as a desperate need to feel less lost turned into the structure I’d been craving. And then into a career.
I qualified as a Certified Personal Trainer and took my first clients in-person. Watching people squat three feet in front of me, reading bodies in the room rather than through a phone screen, learning what actually stuck between sessions — that’s the apprenticeship most online-only coaches never get. It still shapes how I work today.
In 2013, I wrote to Mike Matthews himself to share my results and see if he had any other nuggets. He graciously did — and two years later, in 2015, I joined Legion Athletics as his first online trainer.
Over the decade that followed, I became Lead Coach, hired and trained 35–40 other coaches, earned my Precision Nutrition Master Health Coach certification, and oversaw the coaching of more than 5,000 clients as head of Legion’s fulfilment operation. I personally coached hundreds of those one-to-one, and led the team that coached the rest.
It was the education of a lifetime. By 2025, I’d learned what I needed to learn there — and was ready to build something of my own.
Because the people I most wanted to work with — the ones carrying businesses, marriages, mortgages, school runs, and fifteen years of “I’ll sort it next month” on their shoulders — weren’t being served well by the coaching industry.
They were getting macros-in-a-spreadsheet. Six-week bikini-body templates warmed over. Apps that don’t know their name. Or PTs half their age telling them to just “push through it.”
HB Strength is the coaching I wish had existed for them.
A coach who’s been doing this for fifteen years — online and in-person. A plan built around your life, not a template’s. Training that respects a forty-something body. Nutrition that fits a proper dinner, a glass of wine, a hotel breakfast, a family holiday. And the accountability of someone who’s been close to 5,000 transformations of exactly this kind.
